I really liked this book. I loved the interaction between Wren and Callum and I loved the role reversal in this book. Wren is the strong one and Callum is the one who needs to be saved. In this world, sometimes death isn’t the end. There is a virus called KDH that has killed a lot of people, but it has also caused some of those people to come back to life. They call it rebooting. The only problem with this is that they come back very different and humans are afraid of them. They put them in facilities and turn them into soldiers. They are basically prisoners and have no life that the facility doesn’t allow them. Wren has been in a HARC facility for five years, ever since she was killed at 12 years of age and rebooted. She has the least human characteristics of all the reboots at the facility. She was dead for 178 minutes before she rebooted. A new group of reboots has been brought into the facility for training and among them is Callum. He was only dead for 22 minutes and is very human like and full of life. He is not at all cut out to be a reboot. Wren decides to train him and gets caught up in his charm. The other reboots think that she doesn’t feel anything, but she is just better at hiding it. Callum breaks down all of her walls and it comes to the point where she just can’t lose him, even if the leaders of the HARC facility want him gone.
I would recommend this book to others and I will definitely read the sequel. I would give it four out of five stars.
